Sunday Igboho reportedly arrested in Cotonou
NEWSMAN, Abuja – Yoruba nation freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
It was gathered that he was nabbed by security forces at an airport in Cotonou, Benin Republic on Monday night.
Recall that Igboho was recently declared wanted by the Department of State Services, DSS, over alleged activities threatening the corporate existence of the country.
The Yoruba Nation agitator, according to a source intended to fly out through the West African neighbouring country before he was intercepted. ”He intended to travel to Germany”, the source further revealed.
His arrest has raised tension in the South-West region of Nigeria.
A security alert seen by on Tuesday morning cautioned residents to avoid volatile areas. They were advised to be “security conscious and maintained situational awareness”.
Igboho arrest was part of Federal Government’s onslaught against agitators. The presidency and the Department of State Services (DSS), at different times, hinted that the secessionist would be apprehended.
After the raid of his Soka residence in Ibadan, presidential aide, Garba Shehu, declared Igboho was ‘conducting acts of terror and disturbing the peace’, Daily Post reported.
The image maker accused the Yoruba Nation proponent of attempting to build an armoury and planning to either undermine the unity of the nation.
