Security Operatives thwart attempts to Loot COVID-19 Palliatives Warehouse in Abuja
NEWSMAN, Abuja – Following the news of bursted Warehouses containing COVID-19 Palliatives in Lagos, Osun, Cross River, Kwara, Plateau, Edo among others, there has been an attempt to loot Palliatives from the Abuja warehouse which residents say is located at the FCTA Social Development Secretariat, formerly known as FCT Council for Arts and Culture in Area 10, Garki.
However, Security Operatives stormed the vicinity, firing gunshots and tear gas to deter the looters who gathered around the facility early Saturday morning from gaining access to the “palliatives”.
This Incident forced traders in the popular UTC Market to lock up their shops.
“We are presently locked inside the UTC market. The police are firing gunshots and tear gas to stave off the attack by the hoodlums who were trying to loot the COVID-19 palliatives kept in a warehouse here. Many people were injured while trying to escape attack by the hoodlums and the whole area is in turmoil,” a graphics designer, Segun Stickers, said.
Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, ASP Mariam Yusuf, said “policemen were deployed to guard government infrastructure including Social Development Secretariat”.
