#Ripdele: Rapper Lil Kesh shares how he broke free from depression, encourages others
NEWSMAN, Abuja – Nigerian rapper, Lil Kesh has opened up about how he dealt with depression, and encouraged people going through it to “Fight for your mental health everyday, and be strong”.
The rapper in a post shared on his official Twitter page encouraged those who are fighting the disorder to open up to people around them.
Lil Kesh went on to note that activities such as meditation, healthy eating, exercising, sleeping and prayer can go a long way in helping them feel better.
He said he was able to come out victorious by fighting for his happiness. “If you’re depressed talk to someone, meditate if you can, eat healthy , exercise often, get enough sleep, pray and ignore those negative voices in your head…..that was how I fought for my happiness. Fight!”
His advice is in response to a Nigerian man named Dele Bandele who was recently declared missing by his friends and family a few days ago, but was found dead.
Bandele, an advertising and marketing professional, revealed in a social media post made before his death that he has battled depression for 7 years.
He left a famous quote: “Life is a party, when you stop having fun, leave” and asked his friends to take care of his mom and pray for his soul.
Many have however come out to mourn the young man, and to encourage anyone going through depression.
