PDP’s Obaseki Wins Edo Governorship elections
NEWSMAN, Benin – Incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday, September 19th 2020.
Obaseki defeated his closest rival, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu with a total of 307,857 while, Ize-Iyamu scored a total of 223,622.
This means that Obaseki has secured his reelection for another term.
The results collated in 18 LGAs showed that PDP won in 15 of the 18 Local Government Areas of the State.
The PDP candidate won in Egor, Esan Central, Esan North East, Esan South East, Esan West, Ikpoba-Okha, Oredo, Ovia North East, Owan West, Uhunmwonde, Igueben, Orhionmwon and Ovia South West LGAs.Ize-Iyamu won in Akoko-Edo, Etsako Central, Etsako East, Etsako West and Owan East LGAs.
Obaseki was declared winner and returned elected by the State returning officer at 2.45PM on Sunday.
