‘None is more deserving to win the #BeLikeNgoziChallenge’
NEWSMAN, Abuja – With the Nigeria’s former Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala wining the World Trade Organization (WTO) DG race, it has no doubt brought great joy and pride to the country.
Okonjo-Iweala is the first woman and African to lead the global trade body.
To honor this feat, Nigerians are donning her signature look: a full outfit and head tie in African wax cloth known as Ankara, a single strand necklace, and clear glasses.
Also showing interest in the challenge is Oby Ezekwesili, an economic expert, and one time Vice-President of the World Bank’s Africa division. She is a former Nigerian Minister of Education, Minister of Solid Minerals, Head of the Budget Monitoring and Price Intelligence Unit and former Chairperson of the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
Ezekwesili via her official Twitter page suggested that a little girl wins the challenge, although many Nigerians have joined in, and have indeed expressed their skills to dress like Dr Okonjo-Iweala.
This started on Sunday, when the CEO of Lifebank, healthcare technology and logistics company, Temie Giwa-Tubosun, shared a video of herself dressed in traditional gear in the likeness of the ex-finance minister.
She thereafter asked other women to dress up like Okonjo-Iweala and send in messages of support as she awaited confirmation of her appointment, and added that a hundred thousand naira will be awarded to the best dressed.
Many Nigerians have since joined in the challenge.
However, Dr Okonjo-Iweala has appreciated people who joined in the challenge, and said she would like to know the winner at the end.
