Nigerian Airforce engineers manufacture ventilators, Air Chief inspects products

NEWSMAN, Abuja – Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar on Wednesday at the Airforce Base in Kaduna state inspected 2 prototype ventilators, locally-developed by a team from the Nigeria Airforce Institute of Technology, R&D Centre and partners from a Nigerian University.

The team had been tasked to develop low-cost, indigenous alternatives to equipment for tackling COVID-19.

“We will sustain support to enable the team perfect its products for use once certified,” Abubakar said.

The team also repaired some existing ventilators and developed infrared (IR) thermometres in furtherance of its efforts to continue supporting the National response to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
