Six feared dead as Military aircraft crashes in Abuja
NEWSMAN – A military aircraft King Air 350 has just crashed in Abuja, after reporting engine failure enroute Minna.
Nigeria’s aviation miniser, Hadi Sirika, who announced this in a tweet Sunday afternoon said that the crash “appears to be fatal.”
He said the aircraft crashed “short of” the Abuja airport runway.
“A military aircraft King Air 350 has just crashed short of our Abuja runway after reporting engine failure enroute Minna. It appears to be fatal. We should remain calm & wait for the outcome of investigation by the military, while we pray for the departed soul/souls if any,” he tweeted.
However, Six persons have been feared killed as a result of the crash. The six people comprised two crew members and four passengers.
Also, the Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria (AIB-N) on Sunday confirmed the crash.
General Manager, Public Affairs of AIB, Mr Tunji Oketunbi, who confirmed this said “It is a military aircraft and the crash is outside our jurisdiction to comment.
