Man kills 17 months old step son over alleged distraction of wife’s love
NEWSMAN, Dutse – Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corpse (NSCDC), Jigawa state command has arrested one Usman Sama’ila for allegedly killing his 17-month-old stepson over distraction of wife’s love at Tsakuwama Village in Miga local Government area of Jigawa State.
Spokesman of the NSCDC State command SC. Adamu Shehu confirmed that the incident occurred on 14th August, 2020, when the suspect allegedly took his step son, Adamu Gambo to a farm and strangled him to death.
Shehu said the NSCDC personnel in the area succeeded in arresting the suspect who confessed to have committed the crime after interrogation, and revealed that “he tried to cover his heinous act by relating the child’s death to cold related infections.”
“After thorough interrogation by the Intelligence and Investigation team of the command, the suspect confessed to have committed the crime, saying that the baby distracted his wife from giving him (suspect) the love and attention he needed,” Shehu explained.
His wife however suspected a foul play, and according to her, her husband (suspect) attempted several times to strangle the child due to intense dislike of the child but didn’t succeed
The spokesman however added that preliminary medical examination on the suspect’s mental condition revealed no trace of mental disorder, saying that the suspect would be taken to a Psychiatric Hospital to properly ascertain his mental health status.
