Lekki Massacre: Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj Sympathize with Nigerians
NEWSMAN, Abuja – Following the recent massacre on the #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate, Lagos on Tuesday night, international superstars have expressed utter displeasure over the bloodshed.
Beyonce in a statement via her philanthropic foundation BeyGOOD on Wednesday said she was “heartbroken to see the senseless brutality taking place in Nigeria.”
Nigerian music superstar, Tiwa Savage had earlier called on Beyonce to lend her voice to the #EndSARS protests in Nigeria.
The artist in an Instagram live session said, “I’m calling on Beyonce and her team, the same way they used their platform… to elevate and to show the world that Black is King and how beautiful Afrobeat and Africa our culture is. I want them to please use their voice and their platform right because the same country that birth this genre (Afrobeat) is on fire right now.”
However, Beyonce’s support on the #EndSARS movement has caused some controversies.
Also, Barbadian singer, actress, and business woman, Rihanna, also revealed in a statement that she can not bear to see the torture and brutalization.
“It’s such a betrayal to the citizens, the very people put in place to protect are the ones we are most afraid of being murdered by! My heart is broken for Nigeria man!! It is unbearable to watch! I’m so proud of your strength and not letting up on the fight for what’s right!”Rihanna said in a statement .
In same vein, Nicki Minaj wrote in a tweet that she is “standing with & praying for the brave young people of Nigeria who are on the front lines of this senseless violence.”
