Kaduna Speaker Shagali resigns amidst threats of impeachment
NEWSMAN, Kaduna – Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aminu Shagali, has resigned amidst earlier threats of impeachment by his colleagues.
The resignation came amid alleged plans by some members of the assembly to impeach him over issues that were undisclosed.
However, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Tanimu Musa, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the speaker “honourably tendered his resignation” on Tuesday.
He said the former speaker would continue his normal duties as a member of the assembly representing his constituency.
Shagali was elected Speaker in 2015 and re-elected in 2019 to preside over the Kaduna State House of Assembly popularly known as Lugard Hall.
