NEWS NEWSMAN INVESTIGATES

Ihedioha’s photo taken at funeral of late Commissioner, not after Supreme Court Judgment – Aide

NEWSMAN, Abuja – Aic Akwarandu, a Special Assistant on New Media to ex-Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo state has debunked a photo circulating online that his principal wept upon hearing the verdict of the Supreme Court which announced his removal on Tuesday.

In a public statement sent to NEWSMAN late Wednesday, Akwarandu said the picture which showed Ihedioha bowing his head on his official desk “was taken on Friday, 20th Of December, 2019, when the then Governor received the body of His departed Commisioner for Environment, Late Hon. Tony Okere, at the Council Chambers.”

Akwarandu said it was wrong for mischief makers to attribute the mood to the judgment by the Apex court while providing more photos during the funeral ceremony to back up his claims.

“It is therefore wrong to assert that the picture was taken on the Day of the Supreme Court Judgment. The public should please take note for clarity sake.”

Read the statement and see additional photos below:

“FOR THE PURPOSE OF CLARITY:

The picture circulating online does not in any way represent the mood of the Former Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, while the Supreme Court Judgment was announced.

The Picture was taken on Friday, 20th Of December, 2019, when the then Governor received the body of His departed Commisioner for Environment, Late Hon. Tony Okere, at the Council Chambers.

The State had organized a reception to pay last respect to the Commissioner at the Executive Chambers of Goverment House, Owerri.

It is therefore wrong to assert that the picture was taken on the Day of the Supreme Court Judgment.

The public should please take note for clarity sake.

Attached are other images from the same event.

Thank u.”
