FCT Senator Aduda trains 70 Abuja residents on film, video production
NEWSMAN, Abuja – Senator Philip Aduda, the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has empowered over 70 artisans selected from the six Area Councils in FCT, on film and video production in Abuja.
Aduda represented by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Samuel Shekwolo, said the four days training which started on Tuesday, is aimed at addressing youth restiveness and self reliance for the development of the country.
While presenting certificates to the trainees at the closing ceremony in Abuja on Friday, he said the training was organised in collaboration with the Nigerian Film Corporation.
He said most film production take place at Port Harcourt and Lagos, hence there was the need to also engage some youths in the Capital Territory to learn how to produce and edit films.
“You can see youths have been protesting about unemployment, good governance and reforms; so these are programs I have arranged to bring out the youths from poverty level.
“I decided that since FCT is the capital of Nigeria, there was the need to engage some of our talented youths who are creative to learn film production instead of depending on Lagos alone.
“The artisans where selected from all the six area councils in FCT and I want to call on them to use the knowledge acquired from the training to make themselves useful in the society” he said.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, said the training included the provision of excellent post training services for participants in addition to high quality support and learning solutions.
According to him, the participants in the special training workshop were taught the basics of scripting and acting, digital cinematography , directing, production management, digital editing for film and television.
He added that the corporation had developed a hybrid training and learning method that serves as catalyst for change and entrepreneurship.
The director while commending Senator Aduda for initiating the special training programme for the youths of FCT, assured that the corporation was determined to offer and provide windows for training on a sustainable basis.
Mr Godwin Onmonya, a participants commended the senator for his kind gesture and empowerment program and promised to use the knowledge acquired for self reliance and for the development of the country. (NAN)
