FCT Nursing School in need of adequate Water, Electricity
NEWSMAN, Abuja – Federal Capital Territory’s School of Nursing and midwifery, Gwagwalada, has appealed to the FCT administration to provide solar panels to help improve lighting in the school and ensure adequate security of the students and teachers.
They also demanded the urgent provision of adequate water supply as students are often hit by inadequate water supply in the environment, in addition to the need for the construction of a School auditorium to allow ample space for students during examinations.
The School authority made the appeal while appreciating the FCT health and human services Secretariat (HHSS) for disinfecting the school environment against coronavirus.
Classes, offices and hostels were disinfected ahead of the Nursing final year general examination scheduled for August 25th to 29th 2020.
“The disinfection of classes, offices and Hostels was to ensure that the institution was safe from the COVID-19 pandemic” said the acting Director, Nursing Department, Grace Musa.
She added that “we feel that it is necessary that the environment and classes be decontaminated and fumigated for it to be safe for the examination, to guide against the spread of any infection”.
Similarly, School principal, Lakereks Kwali, said the HHSS has provided all that is required for the prevention of COVID-19, hence they are waiting directives of the federal government to allow full school resumption.
