DSS release Obadiah Mailafia after interrogation
NEWSMAN, Jos – Former Presidential candidate, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia has been released by the Department of State Service, DSS after his earlier invitation on Wednesday by the agency to clarify comments he made on a private radio station that one of the governors in Northern Nigeria is a top commander of Boko Haram.
Mailafia was freed at about 6:40pm in Jos, Plateau State and was accompanied by his lawyer, Yakubu Bawa, wife and personal staff.
The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria later briefed journalists on his encounter with the security operatives.
His supporters and well-wishers had earlier besieged the DSS office where they demanded his immediate release following allegation by Mailafia’s wife that she was neither allowed to give her husband food nor drink hence calling on the international community to urgently intervene.
“We are calling on the international community, General Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo, T. Y. Danjuma, J. T. Useni, Joshua Nimyel Dogonyaro, IBB and other stakeholders to intervene in the release of my husband”, the wife said.
