NEWSMAN, Abuja – Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammed Babandede has cautioned Nigerians to beware of a fake NIS recruitment scam site and link peddling on social media.
A statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, Sunday James, on Tuesday in Abuja, warned that the sites are being handled “by fraudsters with the intention of defrauding innocent and unsuspecting Nigerians of monies.”
“No fee whatsoever is charged for NIS recruitment, the Service had warned severally and is still warning good spirited Nigerians to avoid such fake recruitment offer which is not officially posted on the official NIS website.”Service Public Relations Officer, Sunday James declared.
He said the immigration service would always announce its official recruitment and notifications through credible Nigerian dailies and media platforms for the attention of the public.
Babandede also used his personal Twitter account to advise Nigerians to report any official asking for bribe.
Recall that the Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service Board (CDCFIB) had on March 13th published the official recruitment advertisement in national dailies stating that the recruitment was for only four weeks from the time of publication.
