‘This is a victory for Nigeria’ – Atiku, Davido, others congratulate Burna Boy, Wizkid on first Grammy Awards
NEWSMAN, Abuja – With Nigerian singers Burna Boy and Wizkid, winning the 2021 Grammy awards, the Nigerian music industry, and indeed all Nigerians, couldn’t be more proud.
Burna Boy won the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category at the 2021 Grammy Awards for ‘Twice As Tall‘, his 2020 project, while Wizkid won his first-ever Grammy for his role in ‘Brown Skin Girl,’ a 2019 song by Beyonce, American singer.
Wizkid was awarded for his effort in Brown Skin Girl by Beyonce, Blue Ivy and St Jhn which is from Beyonce’s Lion King: The Gift album.
Following the big win, many have taken to social media felicitate the duo.
Former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, congratulated Wizkid and Burna boy for winning their first Grammy awards.

Burna Boy is winning the prestigious award for the first time. This is also the second time the ‘Ye’ crooner will be nominated for the Grammy Awards.
He was nominated in the ‘Best World Music Album’ category for his ‘African Giant‘ album last year but lost to Angelique Kidjo, Beninese singer-songwriter.
On his part, former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani pointed out the significance of Nigerians winning the Grammy awards.

Also, Singer Davido congratulated his colleagues in the Nigerian music industry for winning at the 63rd Grammy Awards.

This year’s edition of the awards was earlier scheduled for January but was postponed amid concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
