APC will not lose Ondo like Edo’, APC Chieftains say
NEWSMAN, Akure – A member of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Committee on Ondo Gubernatorial Election, Osita Okechukwu, has assured the party will emerge victorious in the forthcoming October 10, 2020 elections.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday in Abuja, Okechukwu, who is the Director General, Voice of Nigeria (VON), stated that Rotimi Akeredolu and Godwin Obaseki share a lot in common, adding that there is no cause for alarm.
“I don’t harbour any fears of APC losing Ondo State for His Excellencies Akeredolu and Obaseki share a lot in common, One, they devoted much more resources in the past four years to physical infrastructural development than stomach infrastructure”, The Nation reported.
“This is why some elites are antagonistic to both. Secondly, both diligently reconciled with their fellow gubernatorial aspirants within their parties thus going into the election with the spirit of internal democracy advantage”
“Thirdly, they both defeated same candidates in 2016 and one does not see the danger naysayers are hyping. Fourthly, don’t forget that they are products of our great party APC.”
Meanwhile, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has charged its staff members to resolve all conflicts that may arise in the field during the Oct. 10, Ondo State governorship election before it escalates to crisis.
Acting Director, INEC headquarters, Feyi Saseyi, made the appeal during a capacity building programme for heads of department, units and electoral officers held on Wednesday in Akure.
However, All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ondo State, says it has uncovered plans by some political parties to employ crude means to destroy the image of the party, ahead of the Oct. 10, gubernatorial polls.
State Publicity Secretary of APC, Alex Kalejaiye, made the allegation in a statement on Wednesday in Akure.
“The unholy alliance is informed by the fact that the political parties perceive APC as a common enemy because they are jittery over the rising profile of the ruling APC, on account of its performance.
“To achieve this, it was further gathered, the parties are to lay at the doorstep of the ruling party all forms of violence and acts of thuggery that will be carried out by their sponsored agents.
“As a responsible and responsive political organisation, the APC appreciates and it is committed to peaceful campaigns and rancor-free gubernatorial election. The party abhors anything that can inflict pains on the good people of the state,” Kalejaiye stated.
