20 inmates to write 2021 UTME from Lagos Prisons – NCos
NEWSMAN, Lagos – Nigerian Correctional Service, (NCoS) Lagos State Command, says no fewer than 20 inmates have indicated an interest in writing the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The service Spokesperson, Rotimi Oladokun, disclosed this on Friday in Lagos.
He said the inmates would be adequately prepared for the examination, despite the attempted jailbreak in the facility in 2020. He added that more inmates indicated interest to further their education, having gone through several reform programs.
Oladokun revealed that the new facility, where the inmates would write the examination, had reached 80 per cent completion and the computers and other items needed would be fixed soon.
“The inmates have equally shown determination and focus to excel”, he said.
He noted that some teachers have been slated to take them in various subjects as well as computer practice, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported.
However, Oladokun also appealed for more equipment to boost inmates’ interest in furthering their education.
